brake control not working

i got a late 99 f250 7.3. i have an actavator brake controller in my truck. when i press the brake pedal the little red light comes on with or with out the trailer hooked up. recently driving arround i have noticed the light is not comming on. i hooked up the trailer and the actavator is not working. any suggestions

Sounds like you've got no power to the controller (no red light) - check for a blown fuse.

Steve where should i look for a fuse.... on the controller or in 1 of the 2 fuse boxes. i dont think the controller has an inline fuse

brake controllers normally get their signal to activate from the CHMSL circuit. If the fuse is blown your brake controller won't get a signal, nor will the lamp come on.

ummm makes sense i will check it and post back. if its a fuse where will it be?

The fuse will be in either of the two fuse boxes, I can't really remember which one but I'm pretty sure on the '99 it's the fuse box located under the steering wheel. You manual will tell you exactly which one it is.
