hi guys, Im new here and it is my first time posting. I recently bought an 03 f150 4x4 and had some questions on upgrading the suspension. I have heard that you can put f250 leaf springs in an f150. what would I need to do to accomplish that? also, I would like to increase my payload as much as possible. Is there maybe an aftermarket option for me? thank you in advance for any help you can lend.
The air helpers (bags) actually help mainly when towing heavy loads (I have them installed on my 2003 Expedition when towing my boat) I also like the Overload springs ( The farm I work on has them in all their pickups and I love them).
Thanks, that would be great to see some pictures.
I have been contimplating doing something to help tow, but just haven't made up my mind. So seeing how they help would help my decision process.
The other thing you need to realize is there's more to increasing your payload capacity than just springs. Brakes, Drivetrain strength and stuff like that. That and how much are you looking to spend?
For 2000 pounds? I'd go leaf springs, here are two sites Deaver Suspension and National Spring . You can call both sites and tell them what you want to do with your truck and they can tune the springs to what you want to do. And when I called Deaver when I was looking for mine they said they would tune the springs for free if I bought directly.
This would be a good way to go because they are a progressive setup. You compress halfway, your only using half the springs, and it stiffens up (uses more springs) the more you compress
That and the frame is weak where the bumpstops mount. A lot of these trucks are "pinched" in this spot just from bottoming out
