Blown Turbo on Father's Day
Coming home Sunday morning from a five day trip to the Manti-La Sal National Forest in eastern Utah the turbo let go. Had to limp 40+ miles to Chinle, AZ to get a flatbed to get the truck, plus utility trailer with quad, back home to Payson.
I guess the Turbonetics couldn't handle the high drive pressure from my new single shots and tunes. The seal went and pumped a helluva lot of oil out the exhaust. Felt bad for those who pulled up behind me. The trailer blocked most of the oil but I'm sure they were cussing me out. By the time I got to Chinle the dipstick was dry.
AAA paid for the 200 mile trip for the truck but the trailer was on my dime. Ordered a new GTP38R from Clay Monday morning. That will be my Father's Day present to myself.
As embarrassing as it is this thread would suck without a pic, so here you go.

Wow, that stinks Robin but glad it didn't cost you a fortune to get back home. On the bright side your going to love that 38R and it will handle your drive pressures for sure..Happy Fathers Day to you..and at least it was a Freight shaker that towed you..looks like one anyways..
I wanted to wait until Clay had the 42 ready for sale, but can't now.
The flatbed was a HINO, whatever that is.

Exactly Chris. I could understand the extra fuel cost with the added weight but geeeezzzzz.
Robin, maybe you shoulda offered the guy a C note to conviently not mention the trailer.

It had 5k when I bought it and it came off a truck making some good power. I put about 8k on it with stock sticks and about 2k with the single shots and new tunes.
The driver of the truck called to tell me he needed a separate DR# for the trailer. When I called AAA for that is when I found out it wasn't covered. I then called the tow company and gave them my VISA number to cover the tow. That was Sunday afternoon. The driver called me back and said that if he knew it wasn't covered he would not have made out the paper work for the trailer. I just checked my VISA account and didn't see any charges. Maybe JR, the driver, interceded and stopped the charge. His brother-in-law owns the company and he may have talked to him. JR was one helluva nice guy. They usaully run your card as soon as you give them the number to make sure the charge goes through so if I don't see a charge by tomorrow I will know that JR stepped up for me. I'm glad I have his cell number so I can give him a call.

Had I known at the time it wasn't covered I would have, but he may have done the right thing anyway.
