Hi guys;
Ok I've had the 72 on the road 2 yrs now and have developed a problem. At stops she doesn't like to down shift to 1st untill I let the brake off, then a hard dump to 1, or just as I touch the gas. I was leaning toward the vac mod being leaky? Cause if I do a crawl to stop it will shift to 1st with no notice and excelerate normally. This is just a recent ( last 2 mo.) developement. I thought if it was just a gov. problem it wouldn't operate normaly on a slow stop. Thanks for letting me pick your brains
I think what you are experiencing is the diff rolling under braking and returning to normal position when the brake is let off. I had a similiar complaint when I was working for Ford and verified it by hanging out the door, looking at the diff under braking.
