This is my delima I'm getting my 69 prepped for paint. The more things I take off the more rust I find. Like the inside of the doors. How critical do I need to be or can I just use the Por -15 system in places like that. Also after sanding on the body. I sand the chips down to bare metal but it leaves a small rust spot on all of them is this a promblem or can I just primer over them. Is ther a primer that is best to use that seals these? HELP WITH PREP THX Money Pit 69
Well how long do you want it to last? What is the weather it will see? salt, out in the winters with snow?
I live in salthio....I mean Ohio and they use some much salt here that the roads are blue in the spring! If it were me I would strip the doors off all hardware and glass, sandblast the insides and Por-15 or chassis saver paint the insides being sure to keep the drains open so the door does not fill with water in the rain.
As for the chips I would DA down to blend the chip part with rest of the paint ( if the whole area was not striped, Sand off all the rust and prime with a epoxy primer to seal the bare metal, then body fill, block sand, block sand, block sand, then high build primer, block sand, reprimer, block sand until all your areas are flat and true.
