'05 Expy Cruise Control
We are having a minor issue with our '05 Expy cruise control. When we have the cruise engaged and are going down a hill, it surges / pulses like someone is pressing the gas on and off. It's not a constant accell, and does not seem to pick up speed, just enough to bob your head back an forth.
We never noticed it before, and it doesn't do it on flat ground or uphill, only down hill.
Any ideas?

When going downhill the engine vacuum increases dramatically. I suspect this added vacuum is leaking through the valve inside the cruise control throttle actuator and is causing it to pull harder on the throttle cable.
Alternately, you could just have a large vacuum leak that is throwing the whole system off.

You'd have to replace the actuator assembly. I don't know of anyone that sells repair/rebuild kits for them. Now don't go running off and replacing it on my say so without checking for other vacuum leaks. There's an elbow at the rear on the intake manifold that feeds the PCV system. That elbow is notoriously known for cracking and causing all sorts of vacuum related issues.
