Just drop it in there, no difference. Make sure to clean around and in that t-stat grove any setiment and such and make sure the stat goes in then put the rubber seal on top then the housing. Just for added protection, from a leak, a light bead, very light bead of hi-temp. Permatex around the housing-pump mating surface for added leak protection.
Yes, By all means get yourself a billet housing from Dieselsite, and also a new set of bolts from an International dealer if you've got 1 close otherwise Ford, and put some anti-seize on them when you install.
Be VERY careful removing the old bolts as many have broken them off, make double sure that the surface on the water pump is CLEAN before re-assembly.
I think Dieselsite also has the 203* TStat and MAY even have the bolts now too.....
thanks yall....yeah i got the dieselsite housing and 203* T-stat but after reading some of the comments here decided to go with the motorcraft stat.
i took the old stat out yesterday and it looks exactly like the 203*...i havent had the truck long so i'm not sure what all has been done. are there any other stats that look exactly like the 203*....same wording and everything.
i got the housing out just like you said....but the hose has a bad spot on the inside. called oriely's and they have the dual alternator hose for $15. off to the store
