My leaf springs are shot on my 5.4 v8 powered 4X4 Excursion. I would like to put on some used F250/350 springs. Which ones do I use? Do I need longer u-bolts too? A list of needed hardware would be handy to have. I have tried searching this forum and most deal with v10s and PSD's. Got frustrated and decided to ask this same old question again. Any help would be appreciated.
V's for the front and B's for the back? How do I find the codes so I know I have the right ones? Do I modify the B's or will it sit level without modifying them? I would rather have the back higher if necessary instead of the front higher, you might run into headlight glare on other drivers otherwise.
Yep, all the talk about the V-10 getting the v and b springs translates to a little bit higher lift, with the smaller, lighter v-8. You will want to either modify the back spring pack or add the larger 3.5" tappered block to the back. If you do a search for v/b springs swap you will get more reading than enough to make a decision. Some have gone to other front springs, and just modded the rear to get the same.
Yes you will want to replace the u bolts. The front are the same size, but when you mod the back, or add the bigger block you will need longer u bolts. As per ford they are one time use. If you search the threads you will get part #'s and all. Good luck on your decisions. You will be happy either way you go.
