do the d3ve-a2a heads have any potential?

From what i understand they're sorta not worth it...

Depends on what you are looking to get outa your engine. I think a streetable 400hp is possible but not alot more. But 429/460s with these heads still make a good amount of torque.

They have about the same potential as early heads. Properly ported with roller rockers, they'll support 600-650hp. But at those levels you're not talking about a steetable cam.

As far as I understand the drawback of these heads is the emissions hump in the exhaust port, it's huge, and is the main issue these heads choke down high rpm/hp potential.

I will soon be hand porting a set of these in the midst of a mild build so I will then be able to give a more addaquite explanation of issues.

When you look at charts showing ported and unported they are within margin of error flow rates for the D0VE and earlier heads.

Yes they have a bigger combustion chamber but that is actually an ADVANTAGE on a street engine as you don't need a huge dish to get streetable pump gas compression ration like you do with D0VE heads. The dish isn't doing you any favors for a clean efficient burn IMHO.

can you see this emissions hump if you look into the exhaust port where the manifold bolts on to the head.

Yes, it almost completely blocks the view of the valve, it's the entire bottom of the exhaust port.

  • was wondering if there is a roller rocker conversion kit for these heads

Harland Sharp and Scorpion and probably others sell bolt down pedestal mount roller rockers for this style of cylinder head that will fit without machining.
