Good plan. I have several spare parts back there that weren't quite broken yet, but I replaced anyways. But good enough to get me to the next service station.
If you were going by yourself, I'd say quit worrying and just drive. You do have a 7.3 after all. Since you're taking the little one along, and since most of my suggestions have already been covered, I'd say post up what route you'll be taking and when you plan on making the trip.
Ask for folks along the route to PM you a contact number in case of any trouble along the way. Also ask up in the 99 - 03 7.3 section to cover your basis, or if you prefer, I'll go up there and just link a new thread down to this one.
A big 5th wheel with sat tv & internet, three slides, washer & dryer, generator, etc. Then you can camp out at WALMART!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We went to PA for a motorcross race we were in. And we decided to bring a RV. Well we ended up leaving the track to go to walmart, and we grilled in the parking lot. Hahaha!! Got the best looks. Set up a table, drank beeerrrssss and cooked burgers haha
An extra window shade slip that you can put between the drivers side window visor, and the B-Pillar... For some reason the sun always seems to slip between that tiny crack and catch ya in the old eyeballs! Real frustrating! Make sure your "on the spot" tools are easily accessable without having to fuss through a lot of stuff. Nothing like an on the road repair and having all your belongings strewn about the highway cause you left your tools behind that back seat, LOL! Good luck and be safe! I have no doubt you will get to your destination without any problems!
I just moved a few months ago myself, and did it in my rig which was lacking big time! Hauled all my tools, welders, compressors, saddles, grains, spares, all while having a 6-horse attached full of screaming mares and a stallion. Did it with my crappy 5.8 under the hood! LOL! It was very slow going on some spots of the 900 mile drive. She made it none the less! And did so without overheating or dying (I swore that engine was going to give)! The only thing that did give out on the trip.. the horse trailer! Stallion got to bouncing and playing, broke the frame of the trailer. Still made it!
There is something to be said about these trucks! Even stacked and loaded, they can be pretty reliable getting you moved! And comfy in the process too! I put some pillows in the cab for my back end, lol! I made the trip before in another vehicle and my a** was killing me halfway through.. but not in the truck, even with a base model bench seat and no cruise control! Never needed the pillows or extra cusion! I was very comfy! Your rig will get you there, and with minimal worries and discomfort!

I agree on all of this. Us 7.3 owners would be more than happy to come help if you have any problems.

I'll definately do that when the time gets closer. I just want to get stuff replaced gradually throughout the summer so it doesn't sneak up on my last minute.
25% better penitration. They quit making them in the 90's but I have box'es of em. Dont use them for firing range. They are strickly for self defense.
That's some pretty wicked expansion. Too bad they don't make em anymore. I'll just have to stick with the Critical Defense for now I guess and sometimes Federal Hydra Shocks.
