Asymmetrical is the standard nowadays, and is best for working on trucks since the front typically weighs so much more than the rear. The size lift you go with is dictated by the space available and what you'll be working on, though. 11k-12k is good for most 4x4 pickups, as long as you also have the ceiling height and floor space.

One thing to make sure is that your foundation is up to the task. I remember reading that two-posts need something like an extra thick foundation, or some sort of special re-enforced concrete.

I've got an Eagle Equipment twin post lift in my garage and the concrete around the posts is at least 6" thick. All of the concrete is fiber reinforced with 6"x6" metal reinforcing. If I remember correctly, Eagle lists all of the required specs in their manuals, which are downloadable.
