I want to temporarily (and perhaps later, permanently) install a boost gauge on my '01 7.3. Are there any existing ports to use on the manifold or turbo, or must I drill and tap a port? If so, where exactly is the best place to drill and tap? Photos?
I'm ok with doing that - and I'd rather not splice a line and cobble it together. I don't want to risk reliability by a hack job.
I've searched this forum extensively, but cannot find a thread with this info.
Riff Raff offers a nice billet piece that replaces the AIH in the turbos Y pipe and runs an electric Isspro Boost Guage. I don't know if this works on Early 99's. Why do you only want to go with temporary?

Reason: add pic
I just teed into my MAP line. It's been fine for close to two years. It's not as slick as the RiffRaff AIH tap, but if you want to do it without deleting the AIH, teeing into the MAP line works just fine. I used some wormgear hose clamps to insure against leaks.
In RatRod's pic above, its the hose covered in plastic. It connects to the spider below the boost control selenoid and runs over to the passenger side to the MAP sensor.
