I don't know, but all the ones we had were crap and did not last. All I know is my truck runs the best and returns the best fuel economy with a stock type filter and the I6/460 tube.
I have known a few people that have had MAF sensor failure shortly after installing a new KN.
.....I used them for years with no problems with them , put them on alot of motorcycles & use a K&N drop in filter on my 04 5.4 with no problems , had a problem with my 95 , fouled the MA meter but i think that was my fault from to much oil , i use a pro m meter now that uses its own filter that dosn't use oil , so in some high performance motors that are MA a filter that uses oil may not be the best choice....Lew
Did you stretch your gap.(till you experience a miss, then bring the gap back in .002)
Are to running copper core plugs?
Is your coil .35-.45 ohm?
Increase Base time till you ping under load, then retard 2 degrees.
Brass C & R?
Hi conduction/ Low resistance wires?
As I said, I run 16 BTDC./ a .056 side gap plug Copper Core(stock is .044)/ 87 octane/ at 65mph-over 20mpg./ 700+ mi. nonstop @ 80mph w/a 1600 lb payload not a problem.
Although compression does not have to be exemplary, it should be balanced & will influence your results.
It is the sum total of all parts & variables that provide the end result. Although some may play a slightly more important role, they are all important & play a part!(Example: A hi-output coil becomes useless after it eats your stock grade cap & rotor for lunch!/ An Ignition System Upgrade to an engine w/ poor compression is just beating a dead horse!)
W/ internal Combustion Engines, the balancing of the Triad (Air/Fuel/spark) must be remain within proper ratio & syncronization. W/ EFI's, Think of the ECU as the referee for the game that will impose penelties (Ruffing the MAF!..........Penalty.....2MPG!)
Problems occur when an engine Modification is made that addresses only a part of that Triad, & ignores the rest!
Think of it as a Chess game, that most people try to play like Checkers, & wonder why they're not winning!

Usually owner related. they do require regular cleaning & there is a tendency to over treat the surface. MAF sensors are very susceptible & can be problematic. If my engine was MAF, I'd go Lew's set up.
