I figured since I have found this thread. I would just let you know that last night was Beer and donuts, and it was gooood.

Did anyone make it down to beer Week in SD a few weeks ago?

 

Yep, although I only had time to make it to Ale Smith. It was excellent - came home with two cases of Speedway Stout.

It was entertaining - people got big groups together and hired a coach to take their party from brewery to brewery without having to worry about a DUI.

We saw three groups come through while were are still at Ale Smith (I like to be thorough - so tasted everything they had on tap for the day... and a few things that weren't.) We met a younger, goofier college group who were a little obnoxious, but very good natured. The next was more laid back group, 25-35 crowd. They didn't feel like they had to prove their drinking prowess... and just enjoyed the excellent brew with good friends. The last group were a little older... they were a lot like the 2nd group... but on more extravagant budgets. They saw me carrying two cases towards the door... and immediately decided that they should all buy a couple cases too... because it looked like fun.

Also - if you've never been to Ale Smith, I highly recommend it. Really cool people. Very friendly, truly talented beer makers... and successful enough that they're actually growing as a business. I'd love to see these guys competing with the big breweries in a few years.

 

i also love drinking beer and wrenching.....

 

Long time lurker, First time poster. I just couldnt resist. Beer is GOOD.

Favorites, Blue Moon, Fat Tire, New Belgian Mothership Wit, Pacifico, and Coors Light.

Not necessarily in that order, but all are the preferred flavors this year.

Heading out in a bit for a beer at Cloud9. Anyone try Shocktop? That's what I drink there.

 

Never tried Shocktop.
