Should find a trans code on the door jamb sticker.
Have you tried shifting it manually, see if it acted any different?
Gotta find out if its a motor or a trans issue, seams to be of some question yet, if the trans isn't shifting/acting right it can and will dog a motor down pretty good making the driver think the motor is the cause.
Your comment, a manual trans taking off from a stop in high gear.
You really haven't stated anything that suggests you think the motor had or has miss fires, you didn't feel the shaking was related to that, has your thoughts on that changed?
Exhaust was cut off before I bought the truck, so 6+ months ago...
I did check the IAB earlier by the disconnect method... and the truck killed over instantly, no hesitation at all... but I may go ahead and clean it out this weekend for the hell of it... and I will check what the TPS is supposed to run at and see if that is giving any issues, and I plan on replacing the fuel regulator as well, its only 18 bux, can't hurt, and I did smell gas witihin the line on the regulator, but no dripping...
Yes I have tried shifting manually, no difference. It is motor, I had thought trans at first too but found that no matter if its in park or neutral/drive/reverse etc... it will do the sputtering crap... and the comment on manual trans taking off from a start in high gear was just to emulate how bad the truck shakes....
I had never really noticed any miss fires till this weekend, on my way to the auto store to buy the PIP sensor... I had my windows down and while accelerating, it was bucking and was making the kinda pop noise you hear on a miss... I honestly can't say if it was missing at first or not really, not sure if I just wasn't hearing it because I was listening for something else, paying attention to the shakes, or what....
Also when I hopped under the truck this morning, I shined a flash light into the cats, and noticed that the baffling crap that is inside was glowing red, is that normal? The outsides were not red, just the honeycombing inside...
Yeah I was leaning towards the rich side - which could explain the missing - when I pulled the plugs I didn't smell them, but I may snag em off again and give em a good sniffaroo - which also led me to the fuel regulator - was reading another post where he was getting the glowing cats, and his idle was rough, changed the regulator and all better... hopefully I can pick it up tomorrow

Ok misunderstood ya on that one, I thought you meant it actually did that.
The fact you keep getting 512 - EEC battery powered Keep Alive Memory (KAM) test failed needs looking into.
That is a CM code and you should get a 111 system pass or error codes, well error code rather then 512.
I'd check the circuit to pin one of the PCM, be a yellow wire to fuse I in the under hood fuse box. Make sure it making solid connection at both ends, test the wire itself if you find nothing wrong at either pin. I'd suspect end under the fuse box first before the pin at the PCM, but both ends should be checked for any corrosion.

Yea that'd be normal, red hot inside to burn off any unburnt fuel that makes it to it.
Awesome, ok thanks a ton everyone, I got my list of things to check, so now I just have to sham out of work long enough to be able to check everything! May be awhile before I can post any results from all the tests, (latests would be this weekend) but as soon as I do ill post back.
Well here's another symptom, massive fuel consumption. A tank usually lasts me mon-Fri, well its now tuesday and I'm at 1/4 of a tank left... not good at all!

Well ended up being the fuel pressure regulator she's running like a champ now! Have a feeling though that the other stuff replaced had a lot to do with it as well, she hasnt ever ran this smooth since ive had it! Still gotta check into the coding issue though, but for now, time to hit the pool!
Thanks a ton everyone, wish Yall were close enough, invite yall for a dip in the pool and some cold beer! Cheers!
