Timing problems

i have a 1986 ford f-150 i put a 1996 302 in place of the '86 302 it was running fine until a family member had tried to adjust the firing order and now it wont start i have tried both firing orders since and neither seem to work now I have tried to adjust the timing w/o a firing gun but i did it without removing the cap on the plug on my distributor and my friend said i fried the plug or something but i dont think he is right i dont know if the computer is making it run wrong or which firing order i should use i dont get on the computer much if anyone knows what exactly my problem is my number is 307-677-6941 anyone who is great at timing i would appreciate some help. or my email is farrell262@yahoo.com

you can't run the HO firing order without an HO cam.. so you need to run the non-HO firing order for starters (unless by chance you put an HO motor in it). what all did he mess with when he tried messing with the firing order?

well im not sure it was an HO to begin with i think they are both windsors or maybe a windsor and a cleveland but it ran fine before and i am not sure what they messed with

The 96 302 is a roller motor so it will have the same firing order as the HO & 351 , you need to reset the firing order , sounds like theres a wire crossed.or a bad plug wire....Lew

it's possible that they damaged 1 of the wires while screwing with the firing order as well.. i've had that happen and have seen that happen all too many times
