He's picking up a code reader today to see if it has connectivity with the PCM. If not, i guess he'll be looking for a new one. The guy hasnt worked on many vehicles and i should watched him a little closer. I guess thats how you learn right?
When you turn the key to the on position, does the CEL or SES come on slowly & stay on , may be dim...
If you pulled the PCM, make sure the plug is well seated & no pins are bent
I'm helping a friend install a DP Tuner on his 95 PSD F250. After getting it installed, No start. His WTS light will come on but when he goes to crank, nothing. We took everything back out, recleaned the circuit board, and still the same thing. we removed the chip to see if it was something to do with it, and still no start.
anyone?
I don't think the PCM has anything to do with the engine not cranking. I'm away from home and can't check my wiring manual so I'm not 100% certain but I think the start circuit is completely separate from the PCM. The ignition switch simply sends power through the transmission or clutch safety switch to the starter relay.
Should be no reason for the truck not to crank just dorking with the PCM unless you have some bad battery cables. But the lights are coming on, so i'm hesitant to say thats the problem.
Not sure what did it fellas. I'm guessing the PCM went into limp mode as stated at the end of the directions from DP Tuner.
We were waiting for one of our friends to show up with the code reader and were tinkering with some cosmetic stuff while we waited. I was going to unhook the PCM to let it set for a while disconnected to see if that would do anything, after backing out the 10m bolt 2 turns I turned to my buddy just for ****s and giggles, try to turn it over. It fired right up, so we unhooked the batteries and followed the directions PROPERLY! IT screams like a raped ape now. Thanks for all the replies guys. Don't know what me or my buddy would do without you guys.
I've never, ever pulled my key out of the ignition when swapping chips, and I've swapped mine dozens and dozens of times. Just make sure the ignition is off. Most say to pull the key just to make sure there's no chance that the ignition is still on.
