Air intake swaps

I have a 00 F350 7.3. I swapped out the air intake for a 6.0L air intake a couple of years ago. At the time I was driving through alot of dusty areas for extended periods of time. It worked out as far as collecting all the turbo killing particals, but it has robbed me of alot of HP. I am ready to put a cold air intake onto the truck. My question is, since I have swapped out to the 6.0 intake ( and do like the look and fit) with no mods, would I be better served ordering a cold air system for the 6.0 or the 7.3?

I don't see how the 6.0 intake has lost you HP? I was under the assumption that the 6.0 intake was good up to 500 ponies or something?

The 6.0 air intake uses a larger filter (about 8 inches thick) and deeper "air box". As a result, the air flow is restricted more than a stock 7.3.

LOL... Well now. That goes against a "certain few" on this site... I'm not one of them, but I just bought a 6.0L intake to dyno it against the 6637, and maybe another option to see what the real deal is. I attained about 450rwhp/1000 ft-lbs on the 6637, I think it breathes pretty darned well...

Does the 6637 have the same configuration? I dont want to re-invent the wheel. Just tryin to see if anyone has done this, and if it will fit with no rework or at least limited re work. I will gain HP, but wich will give me more with less headaches. If money was no object, I'd just blindly order the 6.0, cause I believe i'll get more out of it.

Depending on where your budget and thoughts are here are some options for you as well. Personally, if I wasn't running the 6637, I would run the S&B.

The 6.0 filter is way thicker than 6".

I'll take all bets that he's talking about one of these instead of a 6.0 filter:

A fender sleeve will solve your problem.

I'll also bet there's at least 25 guys on this forum that will buy you Clay's 6637 tymar setup if you ship them your AIS system.
I know I will.

LOL... Ok...

You keep thinking that a "bigger" filter restricts airflow...

You do realize the Donaldson intake that Ford put out for the 7.3 is based on the 6.0 design...
