Holley 4160 problems

I have had a problem on my 1976 Ford F-150. The choke plate on the carb keeps sticking in the WOT position. This is after it warms up to operating temp. Its fine when its cold, starts and idles like a champ, but when it gets warmed up it sticks. I am using a brand new 600cfm holley 4160. Also, does anyone know if 600cfm is enough for a 428?

it has the damned electric choke, ive adjusted it several times over the last 3 moths because im in tx and the temp has gone up at least 30 degrees in that time. How would I go about checking if the choke is wound properly?

Well...you totally unscrew the retaining ring that holds the choke cap on. Then the black choke cap should just pop off. And you'll either find out the coil was unsprung or it was attached to the arm correctly. That being said, if the coil was hooked up properly, there's a good chance it will pop off if you're not careful or pull the choke cap too far off. You only want to open it enough to take a peak inside.

That being said, when it's hot, the choke flap should be open. I misread your initial post as it being open when it was cold. So are you having issues with the carb? So what did you do to adjust? If I were you, I set it back to factory index and might relieve coil tension by 2 lines on the choke. In reality though, when your carb is cold and you set the choke, your choke flap should be open no more than 1/8".
