I paid a little extra for that above and beyond the tranny. Well worth every penny. I've never seen temps over 170 degrees even on the hottest days in stop and go traffic going up a mountain highway in a construction zone towing my 5th wheel. Yes, it's that cool.
If leaving the original, inadequate, oil-to-air (OTA) cooler in place, has anyone worked out the details of bracketry to mount this cooler above the original instead of out in the front?
Prior to having my trans rebuilt February, I was running no higher than 150 degrees in the summer, empty using synthetic ATF. Post rebuild using Dextron/Mercon or whatever the trans shop stuck in there, I am running about 20 (170) degrees hotter than before under similar conditions. This is with the stock cooling system. So can we assume that Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF lowers operating temps by about 20 degrees or is the heat increase due to the new converter, bands, etc.?
