Yes, on several stock transmissions. Works just fine. Just get the stuff that's rated for a Ford trans.

Brian at BTS actually recommends the cheap stuff for a stock trans because the slicker (and higher priced) synthetic stuff is too slick for the stock internals. This could mean premature failure.

I think Brian changed his mind on this because it isn't true. Synthetic ATF is exactly as slick as cheap dino ATF.

Any comment on the cheap Super Tech or other generic branded ATF stuff Mark? The sound of Walmart private label just scares me.

I use it. I also use their gear oil in diffs and t-cases in my other older vehicles. But I have no brand loyalty, I buy oil based on specs, not branding.

Its good to know about that Super-Tech, the Motorcraft at Ford they want a fortune for a gallon, 23.00 the last I checked. When I did my J.Wood VB I used the Mercon Napa brand, been good so far.

This was about a year and 1/2 ago he told me this. But I haven't talked to him since about it so you may be right.

Is this the Walmart Mercon brand or does it need to be Mercon V? I've got my Thrucool on the way and need 5 gal.

I was planning to go with a synthetic transmission fluid soon. Is there no need to? I thought it would hold up better to high temps, although I rarely see higher than 175 deg trans temps since I installed the larger cooler.

Kind of on the same note, is the WM 15w40 oil decent? I have never used it, but I know it sells?

Thanks
