i use my 4wd 3 or 4 times a week i work on a farm and it is the best thing, also less embarrassment when you call your friends to pull you out all the time with 2wd you can pull them out.
I intend to pull a fifth wheel/RV and further down the road (no pun intended) use a dump trailer and move livestock.
I don't own a diesel but plan to purchase one in the near future. I have found both 4WD and 2WD's available for sale. I'm seeking input of those who favor one over the other and experiences with one or both.
The 4WD does come in handy for those slippery situations.
That right there tells me you need 4x4. I doubt you'll be loading livestock off a nicely paved driveway, or pulling a dump trailer just on highways only on bright sun-shiney days. 4x4 does cost more up front and more in maintenance, but pays for itself when you start spinning the rear tires, throw it into 4x4 and are able to walk out.
