Speaker electrical problem
In the past week the driver's side door speaker has stopped working, or so I thought, but if I get next to it I can hear music coming out of it, but it does not turn up with the passenger side speaker. I took the door panel off and checked to see if the connector was loose and put some electrical tape on it but that didnt help. Would a bad ground cause this or do I need to look at new speakers?
BTW my pass. side light is really dim, I dont know if they share a common ground, just thought I'd throw that out there.
Thanks
Drew
Since it's making noises, just not as loud as it should, I'd suspect a high resistance somewhere in the wiring. I'd pull the connector at the speaker and at the kick panel and hose them down with contact cleaner. Then I would look for burn marks on the wires I could find. If you have corrosion on the connectors, it will impede the flow of voltage (I think it's voltage any way), and would not convert back to enough watts in the speaker to produce as much sound as the other speaker. The same would go if you have a short creating a high impedance.
