I recently bought a 54 F100 and have started to try and remove the cab. I have everything off, but I am stuck at removing the pedals.
The pedal pads don't seem to be removalable. I searched the archives and couldn't find any pictures showing what to remove. Any pictures or help would be awesome. Thanks.
Hopefully this works, but here is a pic of the old girl.
A SAWZALL WILL CURE ALL THAT AILS IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if they welded them and you cant grind the welds down yer in a pinch and may have to cut them . replacements are out there i believe in new and old , so don't despair you can repair ...................... oh crap i gotta stop watching the reruns of mr. rogers 'hood and sesame street !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, but I'm not certain you can get either end through the floor with the pedal pads on.
If you get in a spot, you can cut the pedal pads off by using a super thin metal cutting disc on your angle grinder. Start at the top about 3/4 inch off center left and cut the right side pedal pad off. Grind from the top of the pad toward the floor being careful to miss the pedal arm (like slicing a pie) - it's gonna burn and smell but that's ok. Do that four times - once at every 90 degrees. The square remnant will be enough to get a crescent wrench on after you get them out.
Here is a picture of your pedal assembly - if it helps at all:
Except if he can make the pedal remnant small enough to fit through the floor board, he can take them out as an assemble then work to get the pedal pads off on the work bench.
I know the 48-50 trucks have a separate floor panel that can be removed; don't know about the the mid-fifty trucks. There should't be a need to cut the pedal arms, unless the PO welded (why?) them to the pedals.
my 53 has a two piece plate around the pedals too facilitate removal of the cab , but if the truly are screwed up beyond use , as said before just cut 'em !! i have had too and don't like it but what can you do ?????? it's almost useless to spend the energy and effort needed to fix such a botched up P.O . repair . the parts are out here and they may come from some hapless donor who was to far gone too save , but signed it's donor card when new in hopes of saving , and continuing the life of a truck like your's ..................................... sheezuz what's in the coffee i'm drinking .......... i'm sounding weird !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!! if you all only knew !!!!!!!!!!!!
p.s i don't know where your at but if you are in central illinois i can point you too a turd 55 too far gone to save with the parts you need , prolly cheap to haul it's carcass off . i got spares myself , but i have this other frame and such i dunno what i'm doing with just yet .............................
