Tach wiring question
I'd like to install an aftermarket tach in my 96 F150. My question is where can I pick up the rpm signal? Truck has a 300 in it. Thanks.

Why not just do a cluster swap for one with a factory tach?
Yeah Lew is right hook up to the negative side of the coil.
It should be wired up like that link says.

Thought about the cluster swap but haven't been able to locate one. I do though have a couple of aftermarket tachs.

Thats cool. A great place to mount one, if its a smaller one, is on the steering column cover opposite of the shifter.

That's where it's going. It partly blocks the temp gauge but only the low side.

I'll prolly get it mounted this weekend. I have to replace the shift lever ( **** broke off ) and rewire the cargo light to seperate switch so I'm planning to do all 3 at the same time.
