Lift pump

Got my new lift pump today. Never put one on before any helpful hints would be greatly apreciated(sp).

Lift pump

If its the older style pump that pumps the fuel from the tank to the injection pump it will go together just like a gas burner. Make sure the lever goes under the cam eccentric. It may provide some resistance while installing the pump to the block. Make sure the old gasket is thoroughtly removed and the surface is clean and install the new gasket.

lift pumps on 94 1/2-97 psd's can be a pain. a good trick is to get a 1 1/4 wrench and a torch (to heat and bend the wrench), put a couple of bends by the box end of the wrench to get down under the turbo pedistal and on the banjo bolt on the back of the pump. it takes a while to get the banjo bolt out (works better w/ smaller hands) but its easeier than pulling the turbo. the tubo is a lot harder to get off and is worth buying a cheap wrench. good luck
