Stuck E - brake

Any of you have one of the rear emergancy brakes stuck on your F350? Mine is pretty much smoked as of today so I need to replace but am unsure if the cable has rusted and stuck or something else has gone wrong.

Not unusual if you rarely use the emergency brake.

That is why you should always use it at least once a month and keep it lubricated.

It is a cable, so follow the cable and everywhere.

Grease, WD-40, motorcycle chain lube...

Know possible corrosion spots are the outer cable housing in the rear.

All the way into the brake drum / disc assembly.

thanks gearloose1.This would even happen though i haven't used the e-brake in months or even attempted to do so??Meaning stick or drag all of a sudden while driving.

If it happened while you were driving I would be suspect of a retainer that popped off and the shoe is free floating,

Thats what I thougt

I had same problem...

I kept cleaning and adjusting e-brake wires, springs, etc,

Checked caliper and looked good

it

kept happening

one day dug deeper and found way inside caliper pistons it was cracked and although the rotor was ok my ebrake was not the culprit

new caliper and pads good to go

still will not reconnect e-brake cables dont need on flat land
