Collapsed brake line?

Not sure lossening the line will indicate a bad caliper or not. The suction of the brake fluid through the caliper causes the piston to retract slightly and if the line is bad and collapses it will cause the piston to drag. Caliper piston has no other means of retracting without the help of the suction action of the fluid through the brake line. How old are the brake lines?

Both the lines and calipers are original. I pulled the right caliper off b/c it would not float on the key. I was basically rusted in spot. I rebuilt the left side caliper and it doesn't seem like it is releasing all the way, but what is all the way? How far from the rotor should the pads retract?
