There is a single compressor for the vehicle. Since the rear A/C is good and the front is not, your problem is a broken blend door up front. Instead of the door being all the way over, it's somewhere in the middle and is allowing some heated air to mix with the A/C air and giving you warmer air.
the back ac does just as the front, blows cool air not cold, the system is charged and the compressor cycles on and off as it should. any ideas???????
My Exp has never blown "cold" air, just cool. I live in Miami and have just given in to the fact that my 2000 Expy just will not freeze you out like other cars. I just had my evaporator changed yesterday because of a slow leak. A day and a half in the shop and it still blows just "cool" air, not cold. I have driven several other 1st gen Expys and they all have weak AC.

That's not what you said in your first post. You said the back blows cooler than the front. If you don't accurately post the symptoms and conditions, then we can't accurately give you advice.
