I have a 2000 F-250, 5.4L 200,000 miles ck engine light on. I took it to Autozone and they gave me several codes P1132, P1152, P171, P174 and a list of parts prices that totaled over $600.00 bones. I can't help but to believe that one r two of these parts may be needed but the rest are triggered because of the others. If someone could tell me how to test some of these parts I may could thin down list. The truck runs fine but I have to get light out so I can a sticker!! One thing they mention is EGR vavle I don't see anything that that looks like one on this engine!! Can O2 sensors be tested? They said this truck has four is that right? Can a Mass Air Flow sensor be tested? THANKS FOR ANY HELP!!!
Yes, you can test the MAF fairly easily. The guy was right, there are four O2s on the truck, two up and two downstream. As for the EGR valve, look for a mushroom part that has a copper pipe running to the header. It will be bolted to the intake manifold and will have a green plastic vacuum line running to it. As stated by Gearloose though, clear the DTSs first and se what happens. It is definitely a possibility to have the EGR go out after 200K miles, but not $600 worth of stuff. The EGR can usually be cleaned with varying degrees of success, BTW. Good luck!
I am going to do what you said clear codes first!! I wonder if I could clear the codes and run down and get it inspected if the sniffer they put in exhaust would still make it fail the emmision test? The truck has never had a real mechanical problem. The only time it has run rough was when boot on plug wire let water leak and shorted out that cylinder. I have also put new fuel pump in it before. Thanks for your help!!!

If you are like Nashville, they will make you run the truck long enough to have the CEL come on.
Ok reset the computers, and CEL is off and I ran it for 20 minutes and light is still off!! my ? is how long does it take for it to comeback on if there is a problem? Reason I am asking is when they hook it up its going to cost me $45.00 even if it fails the E test!! I will have like 7days to fix it r they will charge another $45.00. So should I sneak around a few days driving before I take to get sticker? Thanks again!!!
I went down to autozone and purchased the next-to-most-expensive plug in tester. this tester actually has the state emission test built in.
After reseting one of the vehicles (chevy ugg) it took about 200 miles to clear all the tests to make it pass..
in new york state, you can have an incomplete result for ONE of the onboard systems and it will pass, but you have to time it just right if you are going to try that.
go buy some mak cleaner and give that a try, it's a lot less then 600 bucks, also the code might take a few key cycles to show up. also since those codes are all lean codes go check for a vac leak especially the little rubber elbows that disinigrate
I am now sold on the fact of reseting computors!!! Did that and drove truck for two days no light came on went and got sticker after replacing wipers and gas cap!! I am 1 happy camper!!! Thanks for all help!!
