Hi guys new b here just would like to know if anyone has this problem. i got 1996 f-150 4.9 ltr start and runs fine but after it warms up and i shut it off for ten mins or so it is hard to start. it will start and sputter for a bit and shut off and i can smell gas. I'm getting a code p1359 this said no spout signal from distributor. or spout connector missing, open circuit condition, ignition control module fault. Can someone help me? Thanks so much.
I'm not sure where the spout is located on a 96, but follow the wire harness from the distributor and it shouldn't be hard to find. It's a small connector- could be gray or black- that ties into the distributor wire harness. Check to see if it's loose or the connections are corroded. If they're corroded you should be able to get a new one from your local auto parts store. If it's just loose, and the retaining clips are broken, electrical tape works well to hold it in place. If you want to test it, take a multimeter and set it to ohms to check resistance. Touch the test leads together first as a reference, then check resistance between the terminals of the spout connector- it should be reading exactly the same as just touching the test leads together.
thanks DBG i did continuity check on it and i got that. And the connection seems ok no rust or anything. the spout or tfi is on the left fire wall. I just don't know what to do. If i disconnect the spout the timing should retard right? Thanks in advance.
