2010 VS. 2011- need your help

I'm in the market to buy an F150- XLT 4X4 5.4 Super Crew Cab or a Lariat 4X4 Super Crew. I need some serious advice from current owners. I'm uncertain if I should wait until the 2011 models come out and see the changes, if there are any. Also, do you feel that the dealerships will make great deals on the 2010 when the 2011 arrive? What would you pay for a 2010 F150- XLT 4X4 5.4 Super Crew Cab or a 2010 Lariat 4X4 Super Crew?
Thanks

I for one am waiting on the new engines due out on the 2011's. Time for a change! And more power (hopefully). Though the rebates on the 2010's before the 2011's are out will be very tempting as they are great trucks. I just figure that I have waited this long for a new truck that I may as well get the latest and greatest.

Eco-boost looks promising, but I am interested in the 5.0, I just hope that it is not detuned too much in F150 form.

It depends on what your priorities are... If you are looking for a truck with more HP than you are more than likely ever need, wait for the 2011s and the new motors. The modular 4.6 and 5.4 are not barn burners as far as speed, but do a good job in truck form towing with their low RPM torque, and they run forever. The new motors look promising, but have not been "proven" yet as far as durability.
The 2010's are already getting GREAT rebates now, and I don't think they are taking any more orders, so time to act is now for you to find the one you want.

My only dilemma is that I really like the Lariat interior design, but I don't care for the black(hot) or tan(doesn't look good with the silver exterior) that is offered. I know this may sound crazy, but I actually thought of just buying the XLT and having a silver/gray leather installed, but a few have told me the Lariat navigation, with the bells and whistles really adds to the truck and is worth it. And on the other hand I've had others say just add the Alpine, Pioneer, or Eclipse, aftermarket DVD Navigation system along with the leather and save you a ton of money.

I went with the 2010. First my trade was worth more now then what it would be later on. Next the rebates were pretty solid. As for the new engines, they may be good but sometimes with new engines you have new problems. The 5.4 has a great track record as far as durability. Also I have owned turbos in the past and you have to let them cool down before you shut off the engine and they tend to fail before the rest of the engine.

Not so with turbos since about 1999, at least not Ford used, intercooled turbos.

I too am waiting for the 2011's and the new engine choices. I want the 5.0 in the XLT 4x4 Scab, Max trailer tow.

I would gladly take a 4.6L 3V as they have plenty of spunk and are quite economical mated with the right gear set.

I haven't had a new truck since 1988. The 4.6L with 3.73's in my Expy feels pretty strong compared to my old girl.

Also waiting to check out the 2011. EcoBoost and 6.2 are the ones i am going to look closely at. Leaning more towards the EcoBoost. I really want performance, torque in particular. For me, I don't tow all that often, and even if I did, the EB is supposed to be awesome for that. It's really about a "lifestyle" vehicle, so performance and economy would be good.

It's going to be a while before you can see an '11...Job 1 is scheduled for November 1st (for Dearborn)...November 22 (for KC)...order banks open August 16th.

I tend to prefer to buy the 3rd+ year of any vehicle after a major change. Taking into consideration the revised aod trans (6-speed) and the new 5.0 for 2011, IMHO, if I could wait for a couple of years I would while others find out the "problems" and get them fixed first.

I too am waiting for 2011. A lot of folks, both insiders and bloggers, think there will be better motors available. With the 6 speed tranny, most anything will pull. 3.5 EB and 5.0 offer more power and better mileage. Unless my inner child rears it's head and wants the 6.2!!! All of these are better than the 5.4.

The 2011's will for sure have the new powertrains. 6.2L in the high ends and the 5.0L for the standard V8. 3.7L for the econo versions. The 3.5L EB will not be ready for Job1 in Nov. It'll probably be a Job 2 mid year addition. The 6.2's I believe are only being offered in trucks that are built in Dearborn (this is where they build the Raptors). So this means that the KR's that are only built in KC won't have them for Job 1 at least. Make sure everyone realises that it is not only the engines that are new but the entire Powertrain electrical architecture is also new. New ECU's and new communications protocols. I was all on board for getting an '11 but I think I'm going to get a "good deal" on a '10 for now and drive it for a few years and see how the new motors stand up. You can still order the '10's until sometime in Sept.

I'd wait for the new motor line-up.

if you want the goodies, get a Lariat. you can throw an aftermarket radio into the truck...but honestly you won't find many that can equal the Sync Nav Radio.

I have a whole aftermarket setup in my Expy and I'm really considering putting in a OEM Nav unit into my Expy instead. A simple Lockpick and it will do everything my aftermarket can do, for cheaper.
