I am pretty sure there was no shroud on these when new. I have the same truck / motor. There may be one on the V8 models.

shroud

Are you guys talking about the radiator shroud?

With the pieces I got when I bught my 54 -F100 project there is a shroud

but its chrome! Its certainly not original.

The P.O. was a chrome head The heater is all chrome and
I keep finding new chrome pieces all the time.

I will post a picture if you want Pete

Yeah, for some reason Ford didn't have shrouds available for I-6 models.....Don't really get it.

I made my own out of sheet metal and some screws. Took me about 20 minutes.

Did you need it because of temperature control?

To a certain extent, yes.

I was breaking in the cam and so the truck wouldn't be moving, however, it'd be at a high rpm. So I thought it might want to overheat, so I put a shroud to see if it'd help.

However, it's been there since I got the truck running, so I don't honestly know if it would've ran any differently(hotter) without it. I just did it for good measure.

Ford did make fan shrouds for the sixes. My 52 has one that was original. Also the part number for the 53-55 I6 shroud is TAAA 8146-A. This was for the 215 and 223. Good luck finding one, but I am sure they are out there.

That's very neat to know, I searched all through the web looking for at least pictures of one........found nothing.

I built one for free with sheet-metal in 20 minutes, and I am happy, so I can live without OE.

On my 223ci I found that the fan opening was about two inches lower for the six cyl. I assume the higher schroud is for the V8. I was fortunate to have found both in So. Cal.

Pete,

Here are the picts of the shroud that came with my project. I have no idea where the PO got it from or if it will fit.

The rectangular side is 22.25 ins wide x 20.50 ins high

the oval side is 20.00 ins high x 19.00 ins wide
