Apparently 200k doesn't buy decent taste as far as that tailgate is concerned... hideous.

You know I have a hard time with that tailgate too-. I didn't say anything, but I was thinking it. But you know in the custom circles its popular to do things like that. Myself I don't like that kinda stuff. But that's just me. It reminds me too much of the early 70's when there were explorations into "lace" type effected paint jobs, and mural paintings on vans and such. That kinda stuff never really caught on with me. But its a tradition in customs to "push the limits" I guess. So I guess its like artistic self expression=doesn't always work. But its legal.

I guess what I like least about the tailgate is that it doesn't really "fit" with the rest of the truck. In that its the only thing done like that I can see. Because of that it just kinda "stands out" in a weird way to me. I'm sure it took hard work/creative thinking/craftsmanship etc. But ?

Same with having an air cleaner sticking out of the hood, IMO. And seats with no headrests, digital dashes don't belong in classic trucks.... I'm not going a penny over $30k

The listing says it took 100 man hours, but I don't care for it at all, and I bet it was expen$$$$$$$ive as all get out. And you're right, it does look weird that it's the only thing like that (not that i'd want to see any more like it either). But it is legal, it's his truck. He's just about to loose a ton of money, once you build your dream truck you kind of have to keep it...

I'm not a fan of the seats either, they're too modern and don't really match the rest of the interior IMHO.

Ya that's "true" when you talk about building a "dream" truck and having to keep it. I've got 3trucks that I built or mostly built etc. Two were total ground up basket cases. One took 7ys or so and the other less maybe 4. But that amount of work and cash is of course not recoverable in a direct way. They're not worth in dollars anything near what they cost me in work and cash. That's just the way it goes. And because of that--so far--I've kept all my builds/at least since 1992. Way back when I was in and out of trucks/cars etc and couldn't and didn't keep things. And of course nothing is forever, i hope to keep my trucks and pass them along to relatives etc. But who knows the future. I still use them all from time to time as much as I can afford $. And that's what I get out of them. I've got a prostreet big block F100 and just 20miles in that is better and cheaper than any psychotherapy.

I can't wait to drive mine, but just wrenching on it melts the stress away.

First machined tailgate I have seen. That was probably better than a grand by itself. It's OK I guess but I can bust a lot of knuckles, loose a lot of blood, and do a lot of cussing for $200,000. And probably enjoy mine more because I wouldn't be afraid of driving it. Just my $.02

Hurry! Not much time left. Get out your check book. What's the reserve? I don't know they haven't reached it yet. I'd guess $100K. +

Drive It

Epp,

I am with you on this one. I build stuff to drive it and have fun with it. I do nearly all work myself as well so if I break it I can fix it. I would have a prestine lookin vehicle and drive it every day if I could, but I got to many to do that. I like to use each one of them as much as possibile.....
