I know that I have read a few requests for information on how to replace the springs on our trucks so when I found this tutorial I thought I would share it.
It does not appear to be nearly as daunting a task as I thought it would be.
Sorry in advance if this is an old posting and please note that I have not tried and cannot verify that this is accurate information, nor can I be eld responsible if you have problems associated with following this tutorial.
That's the one most of us link to whenever the question comes up. The only correction I make, whenever I post the link to help someone, is to tell them to disregard the step where the tutorial instructs the reader to remove the corner bumper supports to get to the front spring eye bolt on the front springs. That's wayyyyyyyy too much trouble.
The easiest way to access the front spring eye bolt is to remove the front bumper. 4 bolts and the things comes right off. It's very light too, so one person can EASILY do it.

Does anyone have pictures or exact locations of these 4 bolts -- I've beeen looking around , but have not been able to figure out the 4 bolts It sure does sound a lot easier than some other peoples methods of getting to the front spring bolt ...
I've seen some Q&A on leaf spring replacement. There may be a few out there that haven't seen this picture tutorial. Mummy thread, I know... This poor Egyptian would have liked an Ex in his/her day.
Can someone help me decypher what my stock spring set up is? I can't post attachments for some reason, but my sticker inside the door states:
WB l BRK l INT TR l TP/PS l R l AXLE l TR l SPR l
137__ 4____ 4H_________ K ________9__ D/G
I am in need of replacing my springs because I have maybe 3/8" of travel on the front. This is a 2000 PSD 4X4 w/ about 240K. I am the second owner since 50K and I know everything underneath is stock. I know that I want to upgrade the fronts to a V or X code, but I would like to know what I have to start with. Any help? I found the tutorial very helpful as I will be tackling this myself. Thanks.

You have "D"'s in the front and "G"'s in the rear.
jdw1...thanks. That is exactly what I thought and believed, but I have never seen these spring codes talked about in the treads. I believe I know what I need to do now. Thanks again.
I replaced front and rear springs on my 2000 X a year ago, as I have told others go to a heavy truck spring shop to get your new springs, the ford springs are made in Mexico and you can get springs made in USA for the same $ or less and better quality. I don't know where you are located so ford my be your only option.

I am in Montgomery, AL. I should have a place around here to go to...it will just take a little research. My biggest worry right now is what block to put in the back as I want the factory rake look. I tow a 31' Jayco Eagle at about 9000 lbs loaded. I appreciate the advice.
