Probably not but for less than $20 per change why don't you at least do it 4 times, spring, summer, fall, and winter?
If you want proof, go to the following link and get your oil tested. I would think that rust protection, water retention, and metals content for your older engine would be your primary concerns.
Semi-synth is to me, not needed and probably not a good deployment of resources.
Good post, but I have to point out that Motorcraft synthetic blend oil costs as much as the cheaper name brand dino oils. $12.50 for a 5-quart jug at Wal-Mart.
Needed or not, you can't really find a cheaper oil. MC oil is a great deal!
That Motorcraft Synthetic blend is good for 7500 miles. Why not change it once per year?
For light duty gasser usage, it is probably immaterial whether to change the oil once or twice.
There is a huge safety margin built into modern oils.
If it was up to me... and it is purely light duty gasser.. I would change it once a year with a quality bulk oil at a oil change shop that is reputable.
But I would grease the front end --- that is a huge area of neglect.
I grease the front end once a year. I prefer Motorcraft syn blend/motorcraft filter because I have used it since day 1 of ownership. Thanks for the replies.
I drove on Motorcraft for 5000 miles and Blackstone Laboratory told me to give it more.
Than I drove 10,000 miles on Rotella and Blackstone told me to give it more.
Rotella after 10k had slightly better parameters than Motorcraft after 5k
Now I drive on Mobil1 and plan to do a test after 12k.
Changing your oil at certain mileage intervals is ok but there are other factors. Severe or light duty operation, climate, and enviornment ie. dusty, off-road etc...
