My 00' 4.6L V8 2WD Expedition in past few weeks both cigar lighter & rear window wiper quit working (rear window wiper fluid is however still working). Owners manual wasn't clear on which tied into which fuse so I pulled them one by one & all fuses look good.
Any ideas on this? Coincidence or they tied in together?
Looks to me like they're on separate fuses. Page 163 of downloadable version of your owners manual which you can find here https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenan...ls/default.asp the cigar lighter is fuse #3 and the rear wiper fuse #14 in the fuse panel inside the vehicle. There's also fuses under the hood on the drivers side. These are covered on page 166 of your owners manual. It shows fuse #12 , and relay #'s 205 and 209 for your rear wiper. One thing to try before pulling all the fuses is, with the key on and the engine not running, turn your rear wiper on and listen for the rely's clicking. If you can hear the relay's then chances are it's not fuse related and maybe a bad wiper motor or dirty contacts on the electrical connector to the motor. Another thing you can try on the wiper if you hear the relay's clicking is (again with the wiper switch on) is to go back to the wiper, grab onto it and jiggle it up and down for 30 seconds or so. Some times this will get it working again. I don't think the two problems you are having (the wiper and cigar lighter) are related. As far as the cigar lighter problem goes, is it just not heating up when you plug it in or are you trying to power something off it. If it's not heating up, I would suspect you just need a new lighter that you can find at any auto parts store for a few bucks.
thanks...will check it out this weekend...the power plug cigar lighter wasn't working w/ element nor a cell phone charger so I'll report back on what I find...great answer thanks!
