Help with new tranny cooler install
I bought a NAPA True-Cool tranny cooler because with these hot Texas days I want to prolong my Trannys lifespan. I am assuming I need to install the cooler in the return line to the tranny.
Can someone tell me which line is the return line to the tranny, I think it is the one that is on the drivers side of the radiator?
Should I disconnect the line from the radiator put in a fitting and run the hose to the cooler then tie back into the line to the tranny?
Can someone also tell me what size fitting I will need to connect to the bottom of the radiator (male) and what size to tie into the line back to the tranny (female)?? The cooler hose is 3/8" so I know one end will be 3/8" barbed it the other end i'm looking for.
I am sure I am making this alot harder than it really is.

The line coming from the oil-to-air cooler is the return line. It flows from the trans to the radiator, to the cooler, then back to the trans... I would get a 3/8ths double-barb, cut the line from the cooler, route it to the new cooler, then run another line from your aux cooler back to the steel line going to the trans. Should only take one double-barb fitting & a couple hose clamps, if I'm thinking of this correctly...

Am I going to have to remove the intercooler or the radiator to get to the line i am going to need to cut into? I am going to mount the cooler in front of the ac condensor coils. I dont know how much room is between the intercooler and the radiator if I want to put to put this new cooler there but I doubt it. I guess I should have taken a peek before I dove off into this head first!!

Jason the cooler I put in is the same one you have. I should have mounted it off center because after I put my grill back on I saw how the big ford emblem in the grille blocks off the center of the cooler If it does not cool as well as I expect I should be able to get some new hold down straps and move it to the left.
All in all it was a pretty simple install but I did have to remove my front bumper to get to the clamp on the factory cooler. That was the only PITA part of the whole job. Even with having to remove the bumper it only took 3hrs start to finish an was only a 4 beer job (hey it was really really hot outside!)
Thanks for posting the pics it really helped! Reps to you and Joe!!

I am going on a 4 hr road trip this weekend towing my boat so i should be able to see the real benefits of the install. I will post back Monday with the temps.
On my morning commute to work I saw a 30deg drop in tranny temps but it only take me 20-25mins to get to work and I never get over 40mph.
