HAHA! maybe if it had a running engine in good shape and it was drivable. I would e-mail the guy and say, "You pay me $500 and I'll go pick it up and take it off your hands". I must not know what it is, but to me $15000 is WAY to high for a car that dont run. maybe $1,500, not $15,000.
ABSOLUTELY! And it looks to be complete (except for the trunk). Has the rare right side taillight denoting a Deluxe.
Original steel bodies from Ford's of this vintage are almost impossible to find. Many early V8's were raced in jalopy derbies. Many were chopped/sectioned/channeled, by hot rodders and customizers alike.
There's an all original 1934 3 window for sale locally..for THIRTY GRAND. It needs everything. So the money spent to fix this car will be about the same as restoring the other car.
Y'all that have no experience with early V8's check out what these cars sell for restored, check out what new fibreglass replacement body parts cost.
Bob Drake has repopped the grille, the last time I looked, he was asking over two grand for it. Decent used grilles (it's 1934 only) are impossible to find.
Everyone wants steel, only use the fibreglass parts, because next to none of the originals parts are out there.
btw: This is my all time fav-o-rite Ford. I've never owned one, because I'm sasquatched sized, so fitting behind the wheel is...in two words..im possible!
If I could fit, I would be very interested in buying this car...and I prolly wouldn't haggle to too much on the price, cuz these are RARE!
with out a hands on my hi would be about 10k it would be nice to have though i had a sedan at one time but had to part with it my ideal would be a cabrolet lf. nut for a nice one
Good points made here....I'd revise my estimate to around $5,000-$7,000 as there is a good amount of material in one spot. I'd hunt for one in AZ, NM, NV for sure, that would be worth some money itself. No tin worms in many partsof this area. Tucson is great.
Not an authority, it would seem unless buyer intends restoring to its original condition not sure it would be worth it. Occasionally come across the modified version at auto swap meets going for between $35-$45k; whereas, restored to original condition around twice that amount. Est. cost of restoration would run minimum of $15k, so now approx. $30k invested; certainly food for thought. Agree with oldfordcoupe, the cabriolet, oh yea!!
There is an engine, but it's a 24 stud 1949/53 Mercury flathead, which was a common swap back then.
There is no way on God's green earth that one of these 3 window coupes in this condition could be bought for 10 grand or less, unless the seller was totally clueless.
The Cabriolet will bring...at least twice the price of a 3 window Deluxe coupe. Not only for the reasons that I cited in Post #5, but...fewer were made, and due to rust, there aren't very many of these remaining today.
