Dating in the workplace?

Hey ya'll,

I was wondering what ya'll opinion was on dating in the workplace? Do you think it is a bad idea, or would it be okay if it doesnt distract anyone?

A good buddy of mine asked me my opinion. I told him it could possible hurt your carrer in the long run, but if shes worth it, I guess go for it.

What do you guys think?

well now it depends on some things, I met my wife at the work place. I worked as a truck driver she was a gate gaurd (only seen each other at work in passing as I drove through the gate) working completely different areas and dept I don't think is too bad but working in the same office definitely a no no.

it depends on who it is, the job, and many other circumstances.

most will say no, and that is the general idea, but there are way too many situations to put a blanket on it like that.

best idea is not to put yourself (or whoever) in the situation in the first place.

Going on a date with a person in the similar peer group is okay.
When you get in to the upper management and entry level kind of situation things can get sticky at times.
If something goes wrong, sexual harassment can be brought up and it can be hard to disprove it.
Getting into a serious relationship is difficult at the workplace.
SO,,,,,,Going on a date with someone is okay, but a serious relationship may be NO.

If they are mature adults, let them weigh all the costs before hand. JMO.

i would venture to say with a 100% certainty that it is a big NO!!!!

that is just trouble brewing.

there are many women who make it a matter of point to get into situations like this, for thier own advantage at the end.

your friend is risking his career with this one.

my advice to him, stay away and make sure to really make it clear to her that there is nothing more than a professional level relationship.

Ummm....I say NO. Three reasons (for me at least):

1. I am already married.
2. I work with all guys.
3. 2 out of 3 of them are family.

Your situation MAY be different. Well, I hope it is.

Fraternizing, the situation your buddy is in, is against most company policies. He would probably be fired if the company found out.

i would say no. I have seen it a few times where I work, and it has never worked out. bad part about that where i work is,only 150 people on the shop floor, you will be seeing the person just about every day you work there. so if things didn't work out and got ugly, there is no getting away from it.

A good buddy of mine, and my uncle both met their wives at their workplace. Neither of them works in the same place anymore either though.

Seeing as how he is a high level manager though...that could be a problem.

If I start dating in the workplace, and it works out and becomes serious, I personally would start loking for a enw job, would otherwise create too many problems.
