parked my work trailer on the rear of a house on monday... looks like its staying there until sometime next week... need some new tires on the truck...or a helicopter...
Some of the fields are like driving through a bowl of soup - the mud/water just part in waves when the tires roll through!
I went to pull out a neighbors air drill/cart/anhydrous bottle combination a few days ago = boy this stuff is getting heavier. 900 hp and 90000 pounds pulling and there wasnt much extra!
Same my way. It sure is getting hard to drive off the pavement to my place. Seen a 4x4 Dodge stuck on the shoulder of the road. The trucks pulling horse trailers are traveling very slow, due to the roads being slippery. It's like all the gravel is squished down and all we have on the surface is clay now.
This rain can stop any time now.
G'DAMN RAIN is right - still!! Whooda thunk it, eh..... I feel bad for the farmers for sure.
I did manage to get my two driveways paved - but only by them getting on it on the 2 dry days in the past 3 weeks! The house STILL waits for paint (looks like crap prepped but not painted!).
Let's see if we get any longevity to the sun....although I'll be in Montreal next week, so doesn't really matter to me!
Big FORD show is on the 19th - so HOPEFULLY we dry out by then.
It still won`t give up, it`s been way too long of a spell that we can`t play with our toys. Hopefully this Saturday`s Merlin Ford show won`t get rained out.
It can stop anytime now. I can't get out to do any work due to giving a couple of pints to the skeeters. I spend more time exercising my upper arms.
Went down to my quonset to start cutting grass again. My 78, 79 and 76 trucks are sitting in 3" of water. My old driveway that went by the quonset has a about an 1' of water on it. In 12 years never had water settled there. I would get some puddles that dryed up in a day or so. Needless to say will not be cutting the grass around the trucks for a bit til it drys.
We didnt get as much this time (so far) as they forecast!
I guess seeding is over for us - ended up at 95% completed. I am not sure on the choice we made to seed into the second week of June - fall frost will tell the tale! Grain prices are rising, so if you have a crop you will be laughing. If frost comes early, by pushing a bit late, we will have a bigger crop inputs bill to deal with...
A big chunk of the ag industry has moved to a one pass seeding system to save time and moisture. This works when its dry but complicates things when its wet - we ended up preworking the last 1/3 of our acres in an effort to dry them out.
Since coming home last my road had water a 1/4 the way across. Today it is right across and flowing. The only time it did this was a spring run off when we had a large amount of snow and the water stayed til July. This time it is raining.
Well i feel your pain fellers BUT..........in the north part of the province we NEED rain.
La Ronge hasn't had rain in almost 2 weeks. I had a bush fire not far from my house. SWMBO put a sprinkler roof of the garage, the wind was blowing real hard straight for us.
That same day there was another fire right in the res at the south end of town.
I am in Meadow Lake and it is hot and dry with long fire alerts.
So that is where the smoke was coming from this week.
Now we had a few nice sunny days. Now it is fighting the mosquitos here. I put spray on and they attack my eyes. .
I look forward to the nice weather. Today saw lots of vintage tin driving around in the city. If I had one to drive I would of been driving one today.
