What is happening to our SK summers?? I can't finish any of my projects due to rain. Farmers aren't seeding. Some are seeing floods, frost, mold even! Equipment everywhere is shorting out. Enough is enough already!
Manitoba is the same, maybe worse....farmer's fields are lakes and cities/towns have had lot's of basement flooding....the Red River Floodway has been re-opened to lower the swollen Red River...it's awful.
We are water logged also, I was lucky enough to finish seeding but there is a lot of people with a lot of acres to do. The dirt in my lawn is still shinny mud and it hasn't rained here for 5 days. Hopefully the weather gets back on track so people have a summer to enjoy this year.
Oh ya, its wet! We have a couple days of canola seeding then a field of oats - we are ahead of the area average by far. The problem is becoming somewhat exponential on the remaining acres. Most of us left our wetter fields and planted the drier ones, now the wet ones are wetter! We put spikes on the 52' Bourgault cultivator and I spent yesterday scratching around trying to dry things out - will do the same today soon as I get this jave drank and get off the 'puter
Summer actually starts on june the 21st, or around there haha. Till then I guess mother nature is gonna remind us that shes in charge, and its still spring!
Sure wouldnt know it by today though, damn nice out so far!
Yep its to the point several main constructions jobs are now sending workers home. It is slower now for United Rentals in Saskatoon then it was at any time in the last year yes including the winter.
Yeah this rain slowed me down on work here. Not farming thou. I finally got the hay feild of grass cut and planted 22 trees and got some late garden planted.
Spent today sealing up some leaks in the house walls that the rain found its way in. Up patching the roof from the wind storm a few weeks ago where it blew shingles and now leaks with the rain. I needed it to quit and dry long enough to get up on the roof and patch. Later this summer hope to finish putting metal roofing on the house. Then no more roof leaks.
Got oil changes done now. Assemble a new push mower to cut around the trees and such.
So only two days to get it done. I missed the Pike Lake Fun run today just getting things fixed and caught up.
And those Skeeters. Twice they nearly carried me off my riding mower. It's amazing how skeeters it takes to lift a 300 lb man.
