I have a '93 crew cab with 8' bed. For curiosity sake I went over the scales today with it. It read roughly 2000 kg on the front axle and 1200 on the rear. That's a basic mt weight of 7000 lbs. Sounds a bit wacky to me..I was thinking about 5 or 6. Just wondered if anyone has weighed theirs and also if someone might know the gvw as I cannot find a tag on it?
7k with stock bed sounds about right to me too.
add extra springs and a bed with lift etc, then you can expect closer to 8k.
the scales you used sound accurate.forget 5/6 k weight ratings with the HD diesel trucks.
remember we have thicker frames, heavier axles, brakes, and our diesel's with oil is about 1k alone.
forget gmc's claim of "professional grade" it's been ford all along.

Yeah, I was a bit surprised, not thinking quite that heavy but scales don't tend to lie. I guess I shouldnt complain about 17mpg or so..
oh okay, so is gross vehicle weight rating the same as what the truck is rated for payload capabilities?
umm
dry weight of the vehicle+alowable payload=gvwr
don't forget you and your pasengers are part of the payload
thus if my f250 weighs 7k and gvwr is 8800 then legaly I can cary 800 pounds of pasengers and 1000 cargo or tounge weight
i run mine over the scales at the scrap yard and the local quarry alll the time and it weighs 6,200lbs empty. 92 F350 na regular cab with the zf5 knee knocker in it.
1989 F-350 Crew Cab 7.3 idi / 5 spd Dually @7,000 lbs x 2 different scales. Recycled some used metal 7k and through out some trash at the dump 7k. Your numbers are correct and it's confirmed, your truck is fat.
