When I turn left or right sharp or not so sharp I have a terrible groaning noise that is louder than my engine. It fluxuates with the RPM's...more RPM's more and louder groaning and at idle, it is a dull yet louder than the engine humming.
Also when at idle and/or at lower speeds and RPM's the harder I push the brake pedal the louder than same groning noise gets.
I think my power steeering pump is about to die...do you agree and is it connect to the brake pedal some how?
Sounds like that's what it is, and yes there is a relationship to the brake system.
Thank you. I thought that the two were related...just by the actions I could feel/hear when driving. Now...can you tell me how they are related? That is I guess the meat and potatoes of the issue...
I assure you check the level of power steering fluid... If it is OK you might try flushing the system before replacing the pump.. per the following method and use Mobil 1 AFT syn Mercon fluid..(available at Auto Zone)...(don't use power steering fluid): Ford Super Duty Power Steering Flush | Superdutypsd.com
I 'am not quite sure on the link between the two, but the expert's will chime in. I know when doing the flush, when you turn the wheel back and forth, you must pump the brake to get it all out.

Yep... it listed in "step 4" of the link in the procedure.. It helps get the air out of the system..
It also helps to jack up both wheels and support the frame with frame jacks..while turning the steering wheel back and forth..

About three weeks ago I had to replace my rear brake caliper. Do you suppose that when i did that procedure that air got into the system and affected the power steering pump since the two systems are connected?
I had washed my engine down, and someone on this forum suggested that I may have gotten water into the tank. The flush worked. Jim
He's referring to the reservoir in the pump. There is a little breather hole in the cap and chances are got some water through the hole into the pump reservoir.
