Need help with wiring of Starter Solenoid?? Its mounted on the right fenderwell.
This is my first post and my first experience wrenching on diesel -- unwillingly thrusted into oil pan change project. Marked all wires and reattached all but one. I marked that wire "solenoid and position" but position part was washed off with solvent accidentally. I also took pictures and the area where the solenoid position on the passenger side fenderwell was missed. The Wire in question comes from bundle that appears to be attached to glowplug box and is two gray wires in one ring connector which apears to change to a larger guage black wire with red stripe. The solenoid is three connector type, a molded y is attached to the two large connectors and the right (firewall side) large connector has an additional single connector with two gray wires that as far as I can tell are identical to the one(s) I'm trying to find a home for. I'm am afraid I'll blow something in the electrical system an I realy dont want that. Help !
Picture is in my album --- not sure how to link the picture to the post.
I hate to ask this question - but have to. On my 2003 Excursion (7.3L PSD) I cannot find anything that looks like a starter solenoid mounted on the fenderwell on either side of the truck.
Am I totally losing it? Does my truck have one? Is it mounted somewhere else?
