BE NICE I've given you props before...I loved my Avalanche and HATED to get rid of it.

They are a dern good vehicle!

I just couldn't haul 8 people and tow my camper. When our minivan died I had to make the choice between keeping the Avalanche and taking on another car payment or trading the Avalanche for the Excursion and NO car payment.

I chose no carpayment.

I will get another one, they are just like the Excursion in the fact that there is nothing else that can do the job they do.

ok this may come off in a different tone then i mean it to. but i'm just asking a question i dont know the awsner to.

what can a Avalanche do any different then a 3/4 ton crew cab long bed pickup? the only thing i can think of is park easier due to being shorter. otherwise i see the normal pickup doing every thing the same..without the leaking pass through that some owners have had.

I had zero issues with the midgate of my Avalanche. It came factory with the solid tonnue cover that provided a dry 4.5 x 9 foot bed area only when needed. It also was a very good 6 passenger SUV when needed. They were the FIRST vehicle to have the tool boxes designed into the sides of the box (everybody else is following suit now) and if you want you can always buy a topper for it.

As with any vehicle there will be those that like them and those that do not.

For years I wouldn't even look at a Ford, but the j@ck@$$ in the whitehouse changed that when he forcefully stole GM from it's shareholders. Now I am willing to look at all the vehicle companies (except Gobama Motors) and I have found that there are some nice vehicles out there from Ford and Ram.

I have deteremined that there is no reason to caught up in the "my car company is better than your car company" dispute...because

NOBODY MAKES A BAD $55,000 TRUCK...

okay, you loved your old truck thats great! more power to ya in my book.

but again my question was, what did it do better or different then a regular 3/4ton crew cab 8ft bed pickup? nothing that i can tell. since i've never owned one personaly(never would own a chevy..just my personal feelings) i was wondering if there was somthing that really made it special, better? then a normal pickup.

again dont take this as an attack as thats not what i mean to do at all.

Might be good vehicles. They just look goofy as bozo the clown with that cladding on the bottom.

And before we completely hijack this thread...

Well I think you got it figured out...it does everything that a 3/4 ton pickup does plus it does everything that a 6 passenger 3/4 ton suv does, all in one truck. Again it comes down to personal choice.

I need a virtual 1 ton 8 passenger SUV...so I got my Excursion.

The Excursion is a GREAT vehicle.

On that we agree. Therefore this is the last post in which I will engage in arguing the aspects and virtues of a personal choice on vehicles. The ability to have your own opinion is what makes this country great.

Thanks for the responses guys. I "stole" the idea of removing the cladding after seeing Alaskan Ex's truck without the cladding.

IMHO...I like the cleaner look with no cladding. I think the cladding makes the Ex look like a "woody" station wagon. Remember those?

I'll continue to style my Ex with the red and black theme with a black rear Ranch Hand bumper to match the front, black running boards and black wheels.

I did chrome on my H2 and want to do a black theme on my Ex.

I do like what I can see of the front bumper...can you post another (better... ) picture of it?

Also, what size shoes and soles does yours have? It looks like you went bigger than stock.

Did they effect the MPG positive or negatively? I just put 305/70/16E's on mine, kinda curious what to expect...

No clad! I like the cleaner lines that the no-clad look gives. Plus, I've never been a fan of two-tone sides on any vehicle.

TexasEx,

Answering the question in your original post: No Clad.

However, I would still love to see black cladding on a Toreador Red, or a white Excursion.

Good Luck,

I like the no clad look much better. I have alwasy thought trucks look better in one color all the way around. I agree with the step idea, rims, grill and lights. Looks great and very clean.
