IT RARELY HAPPENS

If it rarley happens, then I have the rare truck that it happens too.

I was on a trip to Fl. a couple weeks ago the truck shut down on me. No codes at all, so I get out wondering what now! She felt like the fuel filter had clogged up, open the hood to find oil everywhere, pull the dip stick and yep way low on oil.

Thanks to my exstensive education from all the fine people here on FTE, I had the sence to put some more oil in her and it started back up running a little rough but once I got on the road she seamed to smooth out. I ran the rest of the trip and got back to the house using about 3 qts of oil. I figured it was the o'rings on the HPOP, no big deal I got a o ring kit at the house.

So I get the HPOP out redue all the o rings including the non serviceable plug,(Speaking of plugs a big thanks to Bob Guzzle @ Diesel O Rings.) I get it all back together and hey that wasn't to hard

Next trip just a short run about 120 miles used 4 qts of oil, what the ....! Now I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out what I did wrong On the HPOP, followed all the directions to the T, but she leaking more then before. Well I start by cutting some cardboard and put it around the HPOP to see where the oil is coming from.

This is what I found. There is a large plug on the end of the head. I serched and found nothing. So I called Clay @ Riff Raff( Thanks Clay.) and he says yep it happens rarely but it does happen. Which is the reason for the title, I have a rare truck.

Bob has the replacment plugs & O rings @ diesel O rings.com

Are you saying you did the orings on the HPOP, not needing to? Always good to have fresh o-rings, needed or not. Good job.

Your not alone. The same thing happened to me when I had my '97, except mine was the plug on the back of the head. Good job getting it fixed.
