1999.5 F-250, I just bought a gooseneck RV and need to put a brake controller in before I pick it up. The round plug at the bumper is already present, but before I go buy a brake controller I want to make sure I have some idea of what I'm doing. Is it the black plug with the red in the center at about the middle of the picture? Other than the black square one under the dash, which looks like OBD port, I can't find another port that's not plugged in.
Previous owner had a snow plow hooked up, so some of the wiring isn't factory, and one wire is loose from the back of that black plug.
Thanks, but mine just isn't there. I took a flashlight, ran my fingers up in there, nada. I checked behind the glove box, too, just to see. I simply cannot find it.
Where do the wires lead to from that plug that is grey/female, black/male? That almost looks like it could be it with something already plugged into it.

Its actually gray/gray, just looks like that because of the shadow. Its got 12 or 13 little pins inside. The black/black one in front of it has four big pins around the edges and three little ones in the center.
Not to beat a dead horse, but did you go through the triangular hole in the side piece that has the ground wire attached? On both of mine, the connector was through that triangular hole, towards the firewall, and pinned to that side piece. It was not easy to see, and even harder to get it pulled out to attach the connector. Otherwise, I'm afraid I am no more help.
Had the same problem with mine when I was installing the controller. Mine plug was hanging loose deep behind AC controls. If not for this forum help -I would never imagine a manufacturer could do it so inaccessible.
I think I figured out the problem. The PO must have snipped it out. I found loose wires, one of which is the red that gets hot when the brake pedal is pressed. I guess I'll just have to hardwire in the brake controller, but at least I found the wires. The last guy had one of those light bars that go under the tailgate but above the bumper, maybe he cut the harness to wire that thing in.
Thanks for the help, I wouldn't have known where to fish if not for the help I got here. Wish I could have found the plug, but at least I figured out where I can wire it into.
