Looks like my water pump is shot, my truck (95 PSD) has an electric fan on the radiator so I don't have to take the fan off. What type of gasket material do I need to use? Will the radiator have to get drained?
well if you have a e-fan and no mechanical fan then it should be real simple, i just did mine spent 6 hours getting the fan clutch off and only about 20 min off and 20 min on for the the water pump. the rad will need to be drained. your new watter pump should come with a o-ring type gasket.
The pump uses a rubber seal that doesn't need any gasket goop. Make sure you place the gasket properly. It has little biscuits all the way around that should be embedded in the groove. You'll understand when you see it.
You shouldn't need any sealant. The "oring style" gasket will seal up fine. I used a couple dabs of silicone to hold the gasket in its place on the pump while installing, that's it.
