New rotors needed??

Yesterday: Thought the truck was pulling to the right when breaking but didnt hear anything so figured it was just me

Today: 30 min ride to work, by the last 10 min it sounds like metal on metal (from front left) and pulling hard to the right. Pads are about 5k miles old.

Does this sound like pads and rotors are needed? Is 5k normal wear time?

If so is the Cryo Powerslot rotors in combination with Hawk Pads a good idea? Got this info from Guzzle's 7.3 page here.

And wow, $400 total there. That stinks, but I think its what I need.

Unless there is a similar cheaper option??? More research needed??

When you did the brake job last, did you take the slide pins out and grease them. Sounds like a pin is stuck.

No, didn't know I should. Is this a good thing? Can I just fix that and keep going with everything I have? That would be awesome...

You can fix this and keep going if everything else is still in good shape. Here is how to do the slide pins. LINK

Yep, Ford has the new style pins. That's where I got mine when I did my brake job.

I don't know the difference with the chain parts store pins but if you are in a pinch, they sell them pretty cheap (like $5 for a set). Another member and I snapped the head off a rear slide pin and we were able to pick up a set - it was late on a Sunday and Ford parts counter was closed.

Checkers had them. Worth a phone call.

Napa and Pepboys do not have them. Now to find a dealer ship open after 5pm today, or early tomorrow morning...
